Apparently the Target Was Not Deep

The Target Is In the Dirt Pile

The Signal Is There

Finally we saw it! Was this an old silver coin?! The characteristic white metallic edge was visible.

Coin=Like Object Found

Rodney carefully brushed the dirt off one side of the coin-like object and held it close trying to determine if it was really a coin. Our excitement was growing fast! But Rodney was quiet, and I realized he could not figure out what it was without cleaning it.

Looks Like a Silver Coin

Fortunately, a good source of water, the creek, was right there, its fast current would safely clean the find.

Washing the Find in a Creek

After the dirt was washed off, the find looked like a silver quarter but there were no any inscriptions or designs visible on its surface.

Silver Coin?
