Relic Hunting at the Site of Chernyakhov Culture Settlement Near Yamy
Finally we came to the spot - a flat square plot of ground, 50 x 50 yards, at the mouth of a tributary, now a marsh with young-grown trees.

It looked like a right place as there were many ceramic fragments on the ground.

It did not take me long to eyeball a very nice piece, large fragment of the jug, circa 2nd-5th Centuries.

An Ancient Potter Notched It 1600 Years Ago!

We also found a few pieces of the Kievan Rus pottery of the grey-bluish color. That would suggest that the settlement existed here through the 12th century as well.
