Recovery Of Coin Cache In the Farm Field Is A Thrill!

Eyeballing Single Coins In a Prospecting HoleAfter the cache has been pinpointed, it is time to dig a prospect-hole. Its depth should be at least three shovel blades down, i.e. three layers of dirt would be taken out of the hole, one at a time. The dimensions of the prospect-hole should be 3 ft by 3 ft. Before the dirt is taken out and scanned for more lose coins, you should prepare two spots, approximately 6 ft by 3 ft each, by clearing them of all signals with a metal detector.

Then, you need to place two tarpaulins at those spots. Now, you start taking the dirt of the first layer out of the hole and pile that dirt up on one tarpaulin. Next, the dirt from a pile should be spread in thin layer on a second tarpaulin and slowly scanned with a smaller search coil

Before you take the dirt of second layer out of the prospect-hole, you need to scan the bottom and side-walls of the hole with metal detector as well. Then, you repeat the procedures described above until you recover a cache.

Scanning the Dirt

If the cache was pinpointed correctly, it should be discovered before you hit the clay layer in the soil, depending on its geological conditions in the area. If you still have not found a cache, start digging another prospect-hole next to the one have just dug. Rarely it takes only one hole to recover the treasure.

Most of the time, a few prospect-holes have to be dug to find a treasure. In that case, you would be able to determine where the most coins have been dug up which would be helpful in narrowing the area for digging. In some cases, when rare coins are involved, the prospect-holes should be dug everywhere within the Coin-Spread perimeter. That would assure you that all the coins were extracted from the spot.

This type of Cache Hunting requires a good physical shape and coordinated and productive teamwork. At least, two people should participate in the process. And here is one more thing... One of my fellow treasure hunter always performs the same ritual before and after searching for treasures at every location.

Usually, when he arrives at the site, he digs a small hole and pours vodka into it while asking some imaginary old guy for his permission to dig. Before leaving the site, he thanks that old guy while pouring vodka into a hole again.

Well, at least, this treasure hunter found a good use for the Fire Water... By the way, he started performing this ritual two years ago when he was flat broke. Now he drives a brand new Toyota 4Runner and lives with his family in a nice apartment...
