Cache Hunting - Discovering A Hoard of Silver Hammered Coins (Story 14)

The presence of a foreign coin at this location would not be uncommon, but I was wondering if both coins were lost in the field just by accident. Happily I was wrong! A copper coin showed up in the dirt.

Detecting Coins

By looking at it, I could tell it was an older Russian Imperial coin, also a common find in the north-eastern Estonia.

Now I had a good feeling about this location. The best part was that there was no iron junk present in the ground, only coins and some relics.

Unidentified Uniform Belt Buckle of Unusual Design

19th Century Belt Buckle

The buckle puzzled me as I had never seen such a design - two letters "Г.У." ("G.U."), an abbreviation that could stand for anything from "State Administration" to "State University," were perforated through the piece. The partially broken wire clasp was soldered to the back. I need to do some research on this item.
