Cache Hunting - Discovering A Hoard of Silver Hammered Coins (Story 14)
Separating so many coins from the dirt turned out to be not only an exciting but also a painstakingly slow process. In our case, the saying - "Be careful about your dream, it might come true!" - was very much to the point. I would add, "Sometimes finding a treasure is not as hard as retrieving it!"
To make it faster and easier for ourselves, we decided to put all the dirt mixed with coins into a big plastic bag. We could easily clean the whole load by using a simple method at home later.

Clump of Silver Hammereds Up Close

Misha was quietly struggling with the initial pile, which was still large in size, of the coin/dirt mix sitting on the tarpaulin. I pointed my head-lamp at him just to see if he was all right. This treasure discovery was his first one. I could see that he was in disbelief about the whole thing, but, thanks God, unlike a few metaldetectorists I know, he was taking it adequately.
At some point around four o'clock in the morning, probably due to the exhaustion, I thought I was dreaming this whole experience. I even pinched myself to make sure it was for real! But the more dirt I was taking off the wall, the more coins were appearing in view!
